This statement of the purposes of Women's Health West is taken from our Constitution.
To work within feminist frameworks that validate and acknowledge the social context of women's lives.
To provide women with information and knowledge to empower them to take control over their own bodies and to make informed choices about their health and well being.
To actively involve and consult with women to ensure the development of directions reflect the needs, priorities and aspirations of women in the Western Region.
To identify and respond to the health needs of marginalised women from a wide range of cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds.
To assist women in the Western Region to explore and develop a range of alternatives and options to the medical model as a means of achieving health and well being.
To work collaboratively with women's services and other organisations to achieve a co-ordinated approach in all areas of women's health.
To provide quality services in all aspects of work undertaken including direct services, research and development, training and resource development.
To assist other health care providers in the Western Region to develop programs and services that are sensitive to the needs of women.
To research and collect information about the needs of women in the Western Region, to promote public awareness of those needs, to inform other health service providers and policy makers and to assist in the implementation of change.
To engage in charitable and/or benevolent activities which are consistent with these purposes.
To purchase or acquire any real and/or personal property to be used for the above purposes.
To engage in any activity and to do such things as are indicated or conductive to the attainment of the best health outcomes for women in the Western Region.
To use the funds and other assets and liabilities of the incorporated association solely for the object of carrying out the aforesaid purposes.
