Maria's story

Maria Maria's story

My name is Maria and I live in the Heathdale area. I have three children and attend the Becoming Butterflies women's group. I'm going to tell you about my experiences with the group and why I go to the group. Then I will tell you about making our postcards and posters.

Women's Group to me was a way to meet new people. Becoming Butterflies is a group I love going to because I have a chance to talk with women on my level and not only to my children all the time. I have been going to the group for over a year now and have changed a lot. I was shy and didn't speak much, now I talk a lot more and am definitely not shy. I have made a great circle of friends who have changed over time. It is amazing to see the differences in them.

It's good to get out of the house and meet up with my friends from Becoming Butterflies every week. I look forward to coming to group even on a bad day because at the end I leave with a smile on my face. The women become really good friends, so even if you're a little bit interested in the Becoming Butterflies group please come along.

A few months ago some of us made posters. We made a picture of whatever we felt like, what the women's group means to us. A variety of different but all very beautiful pictures came out of this. We all had a lot of fun doing this. We then chose how we were going to put the pictures together, for the postcards and posters.
