On 9 June 2011, the Australasian Reporting Awards presented Women's Health West with a prestigious bronze award for their 2009/10 annual report.
The award is a distinguished achievement in reporting and recognises the local organisation's commitment to accountability and transparency.
Women's Health West is a not-for-profit organisation that strengthens women's connections with each other through community development and health promotion projects; we also host the western region's largest family violence service.
The awards, established in 1950, are run by an independent not-for-profit organisation of volunteer professionals from the business community and professional bodies concerned about the quality of financial and business reporting.
Open to all organisations in Australia, New Zealand and Asia that produce an annual report, the awards ceremony provided a rare occasion where representatives from community and welfare, local government, and charities sat beside transport, minerals, and petroleum and manufacturing industries.
Not-for-profits mingled with large corporations including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Sydney Opera House and Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Other bronze winners included Australian Government Attorney-General's Department and the Office of State Revenue.
'Women's Health West is dedicated to continual improvement and we thank the ARA for providing a great way to measure our progress and benchmark our work against rigorous standards', said Dr. Robyn Gregory, CEO of Women's Health West.
'We are proud of this report, which provides a clear overview of the objectives, strategies and outcomes of our programs', said Dr. Gregory.
'We've participated in the awards for the past three years; this is our first bronze so we plan to implement the feedback suggestions and aim higher for the next one.'
